Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends,
As the Children's Religious Education Director at the First Unitarian Church of Northwest Indiana, I am privileged to witness the growth and wonder of our youngest members. Our Religious Education program is more than just a curriculum; it's a journey of discovery, rooted in love, and guided by our Unitarian Universalist principles.
Our mission is to cultivate an environment where children feel valued, heard, and inspired to explore their beliefs. In our program, children are encouraged to ask questions, In our program, children are encouraged to ask questions, express their ideas, and embark on a personal quest for truth and meaning. Through engaging lessons, creative activities, and meaningful discussions, we help children build a foundation of values that will guide them throughout their lives.
Our classes cover a range of topics, from Unitarian Universalist history and principles to world religions and social justice. We believe in hands-on learning, where children can apply their knowledge through service projects, art, and community involvement.
But our program is about more than education; it's about building a supportive and nurturing community. We welcome families from all backgrounds, and we celebrate the unique perspectives that each child brings to our group.
This year, we are excited to introduce new initiatives that will deepen our children's connection to their faith and to each other. We'll be exploring themes of compassion, stewardship, and interdependence, helping children understand their role in our church and the wider wider community. Our goal is to empower our children to be compassionate leaders, critical thinkers, and active participants in their own spiritual development.
We invite you and your family to be a part of this exciting journey. Whether you're new to our church or a longtime member, there's always room for you in our Religious Education family. Together, let's inspire the next generation to lead with their hearts and to make a positive impact on the world.
In faith and fellowship,
Michele Ferrell
